Daniel S. Mariaschin, CEO of B’nai B’rith International, also supported Netanyahu’s decision to address Congress: “This is a very important speech. Every time an Israeli prime minister has an opportunity to address the American public and the international community – he must take advantage of this opportunity.”
Mariaschin, like Jacobs and Fingerhut, emphasized the importance of strengthening broad support for Israel, and spoke about his expectations from the speech: “We must restore bipartisan support for Israel, in the face of the agenda of progressive and separatist elements. In the speech, I want to hear that there is a ‘day after’ the war, when there will be a peaceful and stable relationship between Israel and the Palestinians, even if it is clear that there are no shortcuts there. I also expect Netanyahu to emphasize the importance of the relationship between Israel and the US, the threats that the countries face and the values the common that the countries share. If he succeeds in conveying this message, I think it will be a successful speech.”
